While Wind Waker does not offer anything particularly new, it does provide a solid, fun installment in the Zelda series.
The cartoony visual appearance was somewhat striking and interesting early on, but it felt more normal as the game progressed.
The puzzles and dungeons were fun and interesting, a feature you come to expect in a Zelda game. I like the fact that many of the puzzles involve getting Link to some location using the tools available, like the deku leaf and the grappling hook. I found this type of puzzle more appealing and rewarding than puzzles in other games wherein you fetch an item from some location and deliver it to some target location.
The bosses were pretty good, though I wasn't too excited about facing each one a second time in the last dungeon; that seemed a little repetitive. The combat in general was solid, but I would like Link to have some aerial moves, as enemies frequently exploit the fact that Link cannot jump as a means to prevent him from hitting them, which i thought was kind of weak.
Overall this is a solid title, fun for everyone and kid friendly, but lacking anything new or earth-shattering to justify a better rating.
