As far as the historical FPS genre goes, this game is top notch. The story is educational as well as entertaining and the game is both fun and challenging.
I was immediately impressed by the quality of the setting. Walking through a camp, I hear a radio in the distance playing classic rock. The loading screens provide real images from the era and quotes from important figures.
The game features segments with real video clips, voiced by that guy that does History channel shows, providing a very real and informative feel to the proceedings.
The best part, though, is that the game makes the escalating tensions apparent everywhere. In the story, in the combat chatter, in the gameplay, it is clear that the situation is getting worse and worse. Relations are breaking down and the fighting is becoming more bitter and more brutal every mission.
Going into this game, I knew practically nothing about the Vietnam war. After this game, not only will that be changed, but I believe I will have a much greater appreciation for the struggle and the strife that everyone faced.
