Max is a compelling fallen hero, but the gameplay is marred by frustratingly sloppy shooter mechanics.
My biggest problem is that I keep trying to play Gears of War with the game's controls, so i frequently perform a bullet-time shooter dive when what I want to do is reload.
I should not be surprised about the situation. This game is by Rockstar, and the weakest part of their GTA franchise has always been combat. The strongest part is the story. It is gritty.
I might watch gameplay footage to see how the story plays out, but I have too many other games to play to continue struggling through this frustrating combat.
